Wine Tasting Events featuring the Languedoc Region
This enjoyable and entertaining event can take place at any location of your choice including your home, office or club. We will take you on an exploration of the Languedoc vineyards where you will taste and sample wonderful wines from the regions of Minervois, Corbières, Saint Chinian and Côteaux du Languedoc.
The evening will begin with a look back at the history of this beautiful area. Here the extraordinary ‘Cathars’ flourished 900 years ago, their skeletal fortresses still looming over the valleys.
Vines were introduced to the region by the Greeks and viticulture was further developed by the Romans who ‘exported’ the wine to Italy.
From sea level to an altitude of 1800 feet, the Languedoc has a rich diversity of ‘noblesse de terroir’ (a wonderful French phrase combining the goodness of soil, elevation, micro-climate and the old customs of local tradition), where vines grow in ideal conditions.
Canal du Midi Barge Holidays… One of the best ways to experience this wonderful place and sample its food and wine is to join one of our holiday cruises on board the barge La Tortue on the Canal du Midi. The Cruise runs from the medieval city of Carcassonne to the cathedral city of Béziers. We will include an insight into this wonderful holiday while you taste the wines.
Wine Tasting… Following the presentation you are invited to take part in a tutored wine tasting – an informal affair that is great fun but also informative and useful for selecting, assessing and enjoying wine. We will taste 10 wines many of which come from the vineyards we visit on the barge holidays.
Food & Wine Matching… matching wine with food is quite an art and we will give you some insights and helpful hints and tips into how to do it. We will taste all 10 wines with a platter of different foods for you to decide which are the best matches.
The cost per person is £35 and we ask for a minimum of 10 people. The price includes 10 specially selected Languedoc wines and a platter of cooked meats, cheeses, savouries and sweets for each person. For more information or to book your event please contact us.
