A WEEKEND WITH WENDY GEDNEY and PETRA CARTER
What the weekend is about...
A wonderful opportunity to acquire some exquisite wine/food skills in the company of wine-expert Wendy Gedney and food-expert Petra Carter... This course includes a tutored wine tasting, a vineyard visit and a wine/food matching dinner as well as two cookery demonstrations (the subjects will be 'cooking for friends' - one pre-planned dinner and one impromptu occasion), a visit to Narbonne's famous food market and a few visits to artisan food producers...
You'll become confident in how to taste wine properly and you'll learn how to articulate your findings... You'll find out how to match food with wine... and you'll get some fantastic ideas on effortless entertaining...
There is even some culture, 'retail-therapy' and relaxation thrown in - we have planned a visit to the Medieval Citadel of Carcassonne (for shopping and sightseeing), as well as a boat trip on the Canal du Midi and some nice lunches in restaurants...
You will be staying at Petra's lovely chambres d'hotes La Souqueto which is a sensitively restored and renovated townhouse in a small medieval village. She offers great food, a friendly atmosphere and oodles of artistic inspiration. There is a large, bright artists' studio at guests' disposal and a roof terrace as well as a small patio for private relaxation.
Day One - Friday May 6th 
You'll be collected from Carcassonne airport by Wendy who shall bring you straight to La Souqueto in Mirepeisset where there is time to settle in. Wendy will give a session on the wines of the Languedoc-Rousillon and a tutored wine-tasting and this is followed by a food & wine matching dinner in the company of Wendy and Petra.
Day Two – Saturday May 7th
After a leisurely breakfast, Wendy will conduct a Minervois vineyard tour and take you to an olive oil producer, followed by lunch in Restaurant La Selette. We have organised a boat trip on the Canal du Midi for the afternoon, after which there is a cookery demonstration by Petra, followed by dinner at home.
Day Three – Sunday May 8th
After breakfast, Petra takes you to Narbonne's famous food market. There is time to stroll to the Cathedral and do some shopping before a leisurely lunch in a city-centre restaurant. There is another cookery demonstration before dinner.
Day Four – Monday May 9th
After breakfast Petra will take you to the Medieval Citadel of Carcassonne to explore the city and shops and we will have lunch in Le Comptoir du Vins au Terroir... And then it is time to go to the airport for your flight home.
Guests will take home all the recipes covered during the weekend.
Cost per person is £590

o 3 nights accommodation in B&B La Souqueto.
The course is limited to 8 people and it is informal and fun.
Accommodation is based on two people sharing (but with a private bathroom). If you are prepared to share a bathroom, we will deduct 50 euros from the cost of the course.
