A WEEKEND WITH WENDY GEDNEY and PETRA CARTER
What the weekend is about...
A wonderful mix for art and wine lovers... An opportunity to acquire some exquisite wine tasting skills in the company of wine-expert Wendy Gedney and paint/cook with cook/artist Petra Carter... This course includes a tutored wine tasting, a vineyard tour of the Minervois and a wine/food matching dinner as well as two painting sessions, a cookery demonstration(the subject will be 'cooking for friends') and a visit to an olive oil producer...
You'll become confident in how to taste wine properly and you'll learn how to articulate your findings... You'll find out how to match food with wine... There will be two painting sessions... and you'll get some fantastic ideas on effortless entertaining...
There is even some culture, 'retail-therapy' and relaxation thrown in - we have planned a visit to the Medieval Citadel of Carcassonne (for shopping and sightseeing) and a water-side picnic beside the Canal du Midi, as well as a some nice lunches...
The course is limited to 8 people and it is informal and fun.
You will be staying at Petra's lovely chambres d'hotes La Souqueto which is a sensitively restored and renovated 
townhouse in a small medieval village. She offers great food, a friendly atmosphere and oodles of artistic inspiration. There is a large, bright artists' studio at guests' disposal and a roof terrace as well as a small patio for private relaxation.
Day One - Friday May 13th
You'll be collected from Carcassonne airport by Petra who shall bring you straight to La Souqueto in Mirepeisset where there is time to settle in. You can go for a delightful (and inspirational!) walk on the Canal du Midi before a cookery demonstration followed by dinner...
Day Two – Saturday May 14th
After a leisurely breakfast, Wendy will conduct a Minervois vineyard tour and take you to lunch followed by a visit to an olive oil producer. Then Wendy will give a tutored wine tasting before a food & wine matching dinner in the company of Wendy and Petra...
Day Three – Sunday May 15th
After breakfast, there is a studio painting session of a still life, followed by a (rather nice) water-side picnic beside the Canal du Midi. After lunch you can try your hand at painting the Canal du Midi, out of doors... before returning home for a cookery demonstration and dinner afterwards...
Day Four – Monday May 16th
After breakfast Petra takes you to the Medieval Citadel of Carcassonne to explore the city and shops and lunch in Le Comptoir du Vins au Terroir afterwards... And then it is time to go to the airport for your flight home.
Guests will take home all the recipes covered during the weekend.

The course is limited to 8 people and it is informal and fun.
Accommodation is based on two people sharing (but with a private bathroom). If you are prepared to share a bathroom, we will deduct 50 euros from the cost of the course.
