Wines for Sale

Due to the demand for wines from some of the vineyards we visit in the Languedoc-Roussillon we have been encouraged to sell a few of them. From the Minervois we have selected that wonderful wine producer Clos Du Gravillas and from the Corbières Châteaux Ollieux Romanis. The wines of Chateau Puy from the Minervois are also available and offer remarkably good value. We have also included one of our most favourite sweet red wines Maury AC from probably the finest producer Domaine Mas Amiel.
Each wine is available by the case of 6 and it's easy to order the wines on-line, just click on the ones you want and follow the instructions.
If would prefer to buy mixed cases please give Wendy a call on 07880 796786 or email her at wendy@thewinewisecompany.com.
Delivery is charged at £17.50 for a case of either 6 or 12 so you might just as well treat yourself to the full 12!

Clos Du Gravillas
John and Nicole Bojanowski are old friends of The Wine Wise Company and if any of you have been on one of our Minervois vineyard tours you will quite possibly have visited this fabulous domaine. This organic vineyard epitomises the artisanale approach and from the 6 hectares containing 11 grape varieties John and Nicole produce some of the most elegant and beautifully made wines you will encounter.
L’Inattendu 2007 Minervois Blanc AC
Only 2000 bottles are made a year many of which are sold in *** Michelin restaurants in Paris. It is made from Grenache both blanc and Gris and also contains some Maccabeo and aged in French oak for 12 months on its lees. It has whiffs of apple-skin, a nutty nuzzle of amontillado and an unexpected pop of caraway. A complex wine to drink with guinea fowl in sauce, mackerel or will even accompany strong cheeses. One of Wendy's Favourites. Case (6) £108.00
Sous les Cailloux, des Grillon 2006
This translates as ‘under the stones, crickets’ and if you have visited St Jean du Minervois you will know how it got its name. The limestone plateau is strewn with white stones, it looks like snow but crickets abound in the heat of the day. This elegant red is made from 7 grape varieties, Syrah (35%), Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Terret, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir and Counoise. We think this is a red for those who like whites as it is mouth watering, juicy and refreshing with a nose that has hints of ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit with a liquorice minerally finish. Case (6) £62.70
Rendez-Vous du Soleil 2005
Old vine Carignan with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah as the base plus Mourvèdre and Grenache. The yields are very low, the wine fermented in stainless steel with lots of skin contact producing a wine that has plenty of colour with round tannins and spicy blackberry fruit. Smooth and velvety yet brooding and rich. Excellent with grilled duck. One of Wendy’s Favourites. Case (6) £83.22
Douce Providence 2006
Translated means Sweet Providence due to the fact that John and Nicole were unexpectedly given the fruit by a neighbour to make their first Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois AC. This VDN (Vin doux Naturels) wine is delicate and beautifully fresh with a nose of honeysuckle and flavours of delicate honey and citrus. It’s beautifully balanced and not too sweet. Lovely poured over strawberries or with goats cheese drizzled with honey the way it is eaten in the Languedoc or try it with blue cheese. 50cl bottles. Case (6) £67.50
Chateau Puy
Emmanuelle Puy is a young man with a great future. He is one of the ‘New Generation’ wine producers who has turned his back on tradition and instead of following previous generations who grew grapes as a crop and sent them to the local co-op he is making the wine himself. Emmanuelle took himself off to Cahors in south west France, learnt to make wine the modern way and returned to the Languedoc on 2003. He took control of his family’s vineyards, immediately halved the yield and began farming using organic methods. He bought and equipped a winery which will take many years of hard graft to see a return but he is a young man with passion and determination and is already making wines of note.
Viognier 2008 Vin du Pays
A medium bodied white from very low yielding vines. It has lovely flavours of peach and apricot with white flowers and good acidity. Fabulous as an aperitif or with fish. Case (6) £33.00
Les Yssières 2008 AOC Minervois
Easy drinking red made from Grenache and Carignan with flavours of prunes and black fruits. Case (6) £33.00

Chateaux Ollieux Romanis
The Corbières region is divided into 11 terroir and the one called Boutenac is the only one with its own AC and is deemed the best of the bunch. It is a region of contrasts. Wild, windswept garrigue, where cigales sing and buzzards circle lazily against a blue sky. This is where Olleux Romanis is found. During our tours to this vineyard we follow winding roads which pass vineyards perched on rocky hillsides soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine and producing strong, rugged wines that smell of herbs and taste of ripe fruit. Olleux Romanis has been a family owned vineyard for several generations and is situated in the heart of the Boutenac region, an area dedicated to the culture of the vine since Roman times.
Corbieres Blanc Cuvée Classique 2007
This Corbières blanc is a mixture of Roussanne and Marsanne from low yields. Vinification is in tank with an upbringing in oak involving a period on the lees with regular batonnage to stir the lees and add complexity. This yields intriguing flavours of orange blossom and exotic fruits. One of Wendy’s Favourites. Case (6) £51.60
Corbières Rouge Cuvée Classique 2006
A Corbières AC made from a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah from vines that have been planted on hard red clay soil. Luscious red and black flavours are counter pointed by the dryer garrigue notes of bay leaf and rosemary, tobacco leaf and pepper. Case (6) £51.60
Corbières Rouge Cuvée Prestige 2005
A Corbières AC and a blend which includes Carignan from vines up to 100 years old plus Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. It has concentrated flavours of black cherries, cocoa butter, liquorice and balsam. It is aged in wood for about 15 months and drinks very well when young and can age for 7 years and beyond. Case (6) £66.60
Cuvée Entramis 2007
A Vin de Pays de L’Aude and is made from old vine Syrah and Grenache grown on limestone-clay. Cherry-red with violets glints it has an intense nose with sweet raspberry and cherry fruit, lovely balance and easy freshness. Case (6) £56.10
Corbières-Boutenac, Atal Sia 2007
This is a lush confection of Carignan (45%) Mourvèdre (25%) Grenache (25%) and a dollop of Syrah for good measure. No oak but this is still a deep and intense wine with black fruits, orange peel, spice, liquorice and a smooth, silky, almost sweet palate. One of Wendy’s Favourites. Case (6) £93.90

Mas Amiel Maury Vintage Rouge 2006
This highly regarded domain is found in the stunning countryside near the village of Maury and surrounded by the breathtaking Pyrenees mountains upon which are perched castles and eagles. The Cathar castle of Queribus looks on as the grapes are grown on the black schist which gives the Grenache its wonderful acidity that in turn gives this sweet red wine its structure and flavour. Similar to Port and less fiery it’s wonderful with chocolate.
Maury Vintage Rouge 2006
One of Wendy’s Favourites. Maury Vintage Rouge 2006 Case (6) £107.10
