The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon

The Languedoc-Roussillon is the most up and coming wine region in France. It is a large and diverse area that stretches from the Pyrenees to the Rhone River and from the foothills of the Cevennes to the Mediterranean Sea.

For many years this region had a reputation for producing poorly made wines with high alcohol and no balance and very little pleasurable character. However the region has everything it takes to make wonderful wine including climate and soils and these factors have attracted passionate wine makers who are producing some stunning wines which bear no resemblance to the rough country wines tradtional producers offer. This course aims to introduce you to some of these wines and open your eyes to what this stunning region is capable of pruducing.DSC00180

During this 2 hour course we will take a look at the most important appellations including Minervois and Corbières and also look at some of the lesser known areas such as Malpère and Cabardès. We will taste a range of wines from sparkling Limoux whites to full bodied 100 year Carignan to delicate St Jean du Minervois to sweet red Banyuls.

This course is taking place at The Crescent Theatre, Sheepcote Street, Brindley Place, Birmingham. B16 8AE

Cost per person: £30.00
