The Wines of the Rhône

The Rhône is a beautiful part of France and produces some of the finest wines from this country. The region is divided into 2 halves, northern and southern and each area produces very different wines. In the northern Rhône you will find some of the longest lived wines available for instance Hermitage from the famous hill of the same name. In Vistorian times these were some of the most famous and sought after. From the southern Rhône you will be familiar with Chateauneuf-du-Pape but this area also produces other fine wines such as Gigondas and Vacquaras and of course Tavel which is famed for being the finest rose in France.

During this 2-hour course we will taste wines from both the northern and southern Rhône DSC00210including Cornas the fine red from across the river to Hermitage and the fabulous white wine Condrieu made from the Viognier grape. We will also taste Gigondas and Chateauneuf-du-Pape and other fabulouse wines, 8 wines in all. You will learn how they are made and grown in this stunning region.

The course is taking place at our Wine School, The Mill House, Dovecote Court, Potters Marston, Leicester, LE9 3JR. Directions

Cost per person: £40.00
