Christmas Wine & Dine Event

Friday December 12th, Birmingham

Only one week to go and we have a few places left on our stunning Southern France Wine & Dine Event. The 4 course meal will be accompanied by 12 fabulous Languedoc-Roussillon Wines. To tempt you here is the menu and an insight into just 4 of the 12 wines.

Entree

White fish and prawns cooked with thinly sliced vegitables and a broth of white wine, coriander, saffron and a squeeze of lime.

Domaine Olleiux Romanis, Cuvee Classique Blanc, Corbieres AC

The wine is a mixture of Roussanne and Marsanne from low yielding vines and has had a period in oak and on the lees. This process yields intriguing flavours of orange blossom and exotic fruits such as ripe banana, pineapple, lychee and papaya.

Main Course

Slow cooked wild boar in a red wine accompanied by potatoes cooked in garlic and freshly made stock and fresh seaonal vegitables.

Clos du Gravillas, Nicole and John Bajonowski, Rendez-Vous du Soleil

We regularly visit John and Nicole on our vineyard tours. Their pretty little domaine is set high up on the limestone plateau where cool air tumbles off the Montagne Noire and the vines are grown in sheltered pockets and scrapes. Rendez-Vous du Soleil is old vine Carignan plus Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Yields are minimal due to rigorous pruning and even more rigorous manual selection. Fermented in stainless steel with lots of skin contact produces a wine that has plenty of colour, round tannins and spicy blackberry fruit - no rough edges here!

Desserts

Lemon and honey Creme Brulee and a chocolate tart with raspberry coulis

Chateau de Jau, Banyuls

This wonderful sweet red wine is an exact match for chocolate.

Cheeses

A selection of cheese is being specially flown in from the Languedoc

Domaine de L'Hortus, Pic Sain Loup, Grande Cuvee Blanc

Jean Orliac is one of the top producers in Pic Saint Loup and his wines are to be found in many of the top French restaurants. This wine is a synthesis of the best of Rhone and the best of Burgundy - one sip transports you from Condrieu to Mersault!!
