Bordeaux and its Wines

What better way to be introduced to what is arguably one of the most famous wine regions than to taste its wines? Learn about what makes the region so special and get to know your Cabernet Sauvignon from your Merlot.
In a 3-hour session our WSET Recommended Tutor will share her knowledge of the region. You will taste 8 wines from respected properties across the region and learn about how terroir, vintage variation and ageing make a wine taste the way it does.
From red to white and sweet wines this course is sure to give you a highly enjoyable immersion in the wines of Bordeaux.

You will learn about:
- The importance of Bordeaux in the wine world and its unique structure
- What makes Bordeaux so special; its terroir, grape varieties and winemaking
- The French Appellation and specific classification in Bordeaux
- Bordeaux’s most iconic communes; from the Left Bank, Graves, Sauternes to the Right Bank
- Where are the exciting wines beyond the classified growths
Information on how to approach wine tasting and valuable tips on food and wine pairing will be given throughout the session.
The course takes place at our Training Centre in Potters Marston, Leicestershire. The cost of this course is £65 per person and includes tastings of 8 Bordeaux wines.
