The first half of 2008 has been busy for The Wine Wise Company and our customers and loyal band of followers.

Birmingham  monthly tastings have taken place on Thursday evenings at various venues. They have included Spanish wines, Champagne and sparkling wines and we had a great sweet wines tasting which included the superb Tokaji and of course Sauternes. This was so successful that we are planning another later in the year and I am looking forward to planning the wines. I already have a superb sweet Macabeo which I picked up in the Roussillon region of southern France last year and I hope to include Maury as this is my favourite sweet red.

WSET courses have been a focus for us so far this year. These world recognised qualifications can be obtained through attending either our intensive courses or enrolling on our distance learning course. We have delivered two 5 week intensive advanced courses at both our Leicester wine school and at the ICC in Birmingham and are currently enrolling people onto our autumn course which is taking place at our Leicester wine school. Intermediate courses are also proving popular and we are holding one at the Raddisson in central Birmingham May 31st and our Leicester school will run one commencing September 20th.

We will be launching a new version of our WSET Intermediate web based course in May which now includes even more information. We are very proud that all our courses have received 100% pass rate to date.

Corporate Events

We have been kept busy with this side of the business too. We have introduced a very fun event called ‘Quaff My Bluff’ which is an excellent way to enjoy wine whilst having a great time. Wine appreciation is also as popular and we have delivered events for Robert Carr Jewellers, Dudley Borough Council, the Co-operative Society and Atkins Global.
